KSSK offers some lessons via video for teachers, Study Group Leaders, and students training at a distance, or at Hombu Dojo. This video training is meant only to reinforce and expand on lessons students have received directly from Sensei, not to substitute for them. Students may purchase DVDs of the following training films. Dojo Cho, Study Group Leaders and other advanced students who are members of KSSK may apply to receive these videos at a discounted rate via internet download by speaking directly to Kai Cho LoPriore. NEW in 2012-- K01- Ha Po No Bunkai: The Eight-Direction Drills and Combat Applications of Kosho Shorei Ryu Kempo. This video offers introductory instruction in the practice of the Eight Direction "Octagon" Drills of Kempo. We cover the basic movement and "jumping" patterns of authentic Kempo martial arts and Kosho Shorei Yoga, and an internediate to advanced drill called Ha Po No Kyusho-Jutsu, which offers the foundational basics of the internal martial arts of Kempo, including the skills that eventually lead to advanced vital-point striking. The Bunkai section of this video offers many examples of relatively basic combat applications of the Ha Po (Eight Directions). These examples are broken down be able to be more easily understood, even by beginners. The Eight Arts are: Energy Cultivation, Healing Arts, Japanese Yoga and Jumping Arts, Escaping Arts, Philosophy, Grappling Arts, Meditation, and the War Arts. P1-3- Pinan Shodan through Sandan, Kata and Bunkai "Peaceful Mind" 1-3, Forms and Analysis. The five Pinan kata are simultaneously the bedrock training for the hard-style aspet of the Kempo of Kosho Shorei Shin Kai, and a comprehensive introduction to the more advanced, soft or internal aspects of our martial arts.
